Perfect Party August 2014
Here’s who we’d invite if we could entertain this month’s most interesting visitors, locals, and newsmakers.

Lou Piniella
The Mariners are enshrining the famously fiery skipper in their hall of fame and immortalizing him with a bobblehead. Be gentle with it, though; it might head-butt you. (Safeco Field, Aug 9)
Ericka Burke
The Volunteer Park Cafe owner is opening a restaurant and a sandwich shop (both in Capitol Hill) and a gen- eral store (in Portage Bay). We hear a butcher shop, hookah bar, and winery are up next.
Kate Joncas
In June the former head of the Downtown Seattle Association became the first female deputy mayor in nearly 20 years. Maybe she’ll look into the city’s pay gap for women…
Jon Meis
The Seattle Pacific engineering student graduated just nine days after tackling a shooter who killed one and injured two more on campus. Not a bad thing to have on your resume.
Lauren Mayberry
As summer concert season winds down, Mayberry and her band, Chvrches, bring their ’80s-inspired, synthpop back to Seattle. Consider us pvmped. (Showbox SoDo, Aug 7)
Robert Schenkkan
Thanks in part to a star turn from Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston, local playwright Schenkkan won a Tony for his LBJ drama, All the Way. He is the one who rocks.
