2. The Garfield High School PTSA newsletter is advertising student internships ("eligible for school credit") with Ed Murray's mayoral campaign.

Oddly partisan for the PTSA?

The notice begins:

Here's an opportunity for high school students to earn service hours and see how a mayoral campaign works

Field Intern:

Field Interns are a vital part of the Field program and essential to realizing our goal to elect Ed Murray as Mayor by activating our voters and turning them out in the general election. As a Field Intern you will work with the Deputy Field Director and Field Organizers (FO) to mobilize voters all over the city. Over the course of the campaign, you will work to recruit and persuade voters, building and supporting the volunteer network that will serve as the base of our ground team events and Get Out the Vote (GOTV).

Footnote: Presumably, a student wouldn't get on board if they didn't like Murray (for example, would an Obama fan have taken a school internship with the Romney campaign?), but it also strikes Fizz as kind of weird that Murray is padding his volunteer base with kids who need school credit—and that Garfield seems to be implicitly endorsing Murray.

3. Speaking of the Murray campaign, now that Murray won the primary and is in serious contention to be the next mayor, Josh published a follow-up story yesterday afternoon to last February's news that the executive director of the Senate Democratic Campaign Committee allegedly stole as much as $250,000.

Given that state Sen. Murray was a co-chair of the committee, we asked him what happened.

4. The D.C.-based United Food and Commerical Workers International Union contributed $50,000 to re-elect Mayor Mike McGinn yesterday, backing up the Seattle local, which has set up a pro-McGinn PAC shortly after McGinn took his anti-Whole Foods stand in July, with a $15,000 contribution.

With a couple of other unions—the machinists and the hotela and restaurant employees—kicking in, the pro-McGinn union PAC has now raised about $70,000.
