1. As part of their ongoing series of mayoral candidate profiles, the Seattle Times profiles state Sen. Ed Murray today. Reporter Jim Brunner calls Murray a "collaborative" leader (a sound bite Murray has been taking serious pains to propagate).

2. Urbanists have been pushing the trendy notion of Transit Oriented Development for the last several years. However, the planner who's credited with the concept—which advocates building housing and retail and employment centers around transit—has come up with a new, and he says, more accurate term: Pedestrian Oriented Development.

The new-and-improved concept, outlined over at Planetizen, being: If you can't walk (or bike, or use your wheelchair) to get to and from the transit hub, the original notion doesn't make any sense.

3. The Tacoma News Tribune reports on a series of DEA raids at medical pot stores.

A Bothell man has filed an initiative that seeks to rename the section of I-5 that collapsed in May over the Skagit River after Tim Eyman, the initiative hawker who has helped limit government spending in the state.Also like everyone else, Schwartz blames Abedin for Weiner's own bad behavior. Yawn.

5. Seattle Transit Blog has some relatively encouraging news: Pierce Transit announces plans to cancel huge service cuts, thanks to increased sales tax revenues (but the agency would still need huge funding increases to return service to pre-recession levels). 

6. The national story of the day comes from UW professor Pepper Schwartz, who, along with everyone else, turns the camera on Huma Abedin, the unfortunate wife of disgraced U.S. Rep.-turned disgraced New York mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner, theorizing on CNN.com about what makes Abedin tick and stand by this schmuck.

Also like everyone else, Schwartz blames Abedin for Weiner's own bad behavior. Yawn.
