Today’s picks for civic nerds.

For Sunday:

Tulip Traffic

If you're headed north to check out the beautiful flowers at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, watch out for congestion. Traffic is mostly concentrated on I-5 near Skagit and roads near the fields. Late morning until late afternoon have the heaviest holdup.

Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, April 1–30, Roozengaarde, 15867 Beaver Marsh Rd, Mt Vernon, $4–$5.

King County Internship

It's hard to find paid internships, but King County Metro is offering just that for full-time college students (and it pays well—between $13 and $19 an hour—at that). The design and construction, information technology, service development, human resources, policy analysis and safety departments all have openings.

King County Metro Internship, Department of Transportation, 201 S Jackson St, hourly, apply online.

For Saturday:

March for Transit

Ever missed that last bus of the night? As we've reported, it could soon get a whole lot worse. Join councilmember Larry Phillips, the Magnolia Transit Riders, and the Transit Riders Union to support transit funding options and highlight the impact transit cuts will have on riders. The walk traces the route riders must take when they miss the last bus to Magnolia.

Midnight March for Metro, Sat Apr 6, 11–midnight, meet at 1541 15th Ave W, West Queen Anne, free.

Meet the Officials

Meet your elected officials, tour the mayor's office and enjoy performances by Sanca and Massive Monkees. Food trucks will be there for snacking and adoptable dogs and critters will also be in attendance.

City Hall Open House, Sat Apr 6, 10–2pm, City Hall, 601 Fifth Ave, free.

And for Today:

Civilians in the Syrian Conflict

Thousands are dead from the ongoing conflict in Syria. In the midst of the complicated politics of the region, this documentary shows the troubled territory through the impact of the conflict on its civilians.

The Suffering Grasses, Fri Apr 5, 7–9pm, Keystone Congregational United Church of Christ, 5019 Keystone Pl N, University District, free.
