By Erica C. Barnett August 8, 2012

1. The Seattle Bubble blog reports that, according to the state Office of Financial Management, Washington State has seen its first increase in new residents moving into the state since 2006.

2. Although you may consider voter-ID laws---now in place in 10 states---unrelated to transportation policy, a new report concludes that they actually discriminate against people without cars, Streetsblog reports.

3. King County Council member Kathy Lambert, one of two Republicans on the council to vote in favor of the proposed SoDo arena, explains her decision to the Issaquah Press.

4. Meanwhile, Seattle City Council member Richard Conlin outlines his "concerns" about the arena proposal on his blog.

5. And finally, Jezebel reports that Joan Rivers got thrown out of a Costco store (the Issaquah-based chain's LA branch) for staging an impromptu signing of her latest book, whose cover blurbs include profanities. Rivers chained herself to a shopping cart and wielded a megaphone for effect.
