During our fundraising drive two weeks ago, we hauled out testimonials to our work from State Sen. Ed Murray (D-43, Seattle), Rep. Reuven Carlyle (D-36), Seattle, Seattle City Council member Sally Clark, and longtime AP reporter and editor Paul Queary. Asked by a reporter why he and his budget writer Sen. Joe Zarelli (R-18, Ridgefield) were unveiling their budget at a press conference, "negotiating in the media" instead of negotiating quietly with the house Democratic budget writers, Sen. Hewitt said:
We were meeting in confidentiality all this weekend and part of last weekend, only for me to go to the computer yesterday to find out that PubliCola had all of the information that we'd been talking about in the room. So, that's the way that came down.
