October Fundraising Totals: Inslee, McKenna Still Neck and Neck
Republican gubernatorial candidate Washington State Attorney General Rob McKenna has announced his October fundraising numbers: More than $600,000, bringing his total to $2.6 million with $1.5 million on hand. McKenna's camp is also hyping the number of donors they added in October, 11,000. They might want to downplay a couple of those new donors, though: Five donors, including the president & CEO, from the Texas-based lobbying firm Hillco Partners contributed a total of $1600. Not a lot, but enough to rile liberals who are trying to tar McKenna as a closet Tea Party candidate. Hillco, also known as Hillco Health in DC, lobbies for big drug companies, but more notably, for the Koch brothers.
Inslee hasn't released a statement, but the Public Disclosure Commission shows he's at $2.5 million, meaning he raised about $400,000 in October and now has about $1.7 million cash on hand, keeping him slightly ahead of McKenna—as he was last month .
Yesterday , we reported that Inslee has a chance to get a big jump on McKenna because as attorney general, a state official, McKenna is not allowed to raise money for four months while the legislature is in session from December through March.
