As we predicted in Friday's Jolt, Bobby Forch---the challenger who came within a couple thousand votes of ousting two-term city council member and former longtime newspaper columnist Jean Godden---conceded today, saying, "After a hard fought and close campaign, I congratulate Jean Godden on her re-election to the Seattle City Council."

"Hopefully, we showed there is strong support for specific transit projects to connect neighborhoods. I also hope the City Council will examine more closely why our Police Department is being investigated by the Department of Justice. In addition, I know we are in a tough budget situation but we should keep looking at ways we can roll back parking hours to help our small businesses."

Forch ended his campaign around $60,000 in the red, an unprecedented amount of debt for a city council challenger. Most of that debt is to Forch's campaign consultant, John Wyble, to whom Forch owes more than $51,000. He also owes money to fund-raiser Colby Underwood (just over $3,000); campaign manager Nicole Crystal Fancer ($400); and treasurer Jason Bennett ($731).
