A man in his 30s died from injuries sustained in a brutal beating in the Central District this morning, police say.

Police and medics found the man in the street at 26th and Jefferson—just a few blocks from Garfield High School—around 6:45 am Thursday morning.

He had sustained a massive head wound, and was taken to Harborview where he later died.
