• Contributions are starting to roll in for the campaign opposing the proposed $60 car-tab fee, which is being organized by low-income housing advocate John Fox. The biggest check so far has come from Aurora Ave. property owner Fay Garneau, who has contributed $5,000 to the anti-car-tab cause. (The fee would pay to improve city streets for transit service, pedestrian-safety and bicycle projects, and basic street maintenance).
So far, the anti-car-tab campaign has raised $5,750 to the pro-car-tab campaign's $670.
• Here are the tallies in the other local November races:
In Position 1, challenger Bobby Forch had raised $68,762 by the end of August, and was $8,610 in the red. Jean Godden, the incumbent, had raised $208,908, and had $41,430 on hand.
In Position 3, challenger Brad Meacham had raised $52,295 as of September 9 and had $11,018 on hand at the end of August. Incumbent Bruce Harrell had raised $259,181 as of September 9, and had $172,542 on hand at the end of August.
In Position 5, challenger Dale Pusey hasn't reported any contributions since the end of June. Incumbent Tom Rasmussen had raised $305,105 as of September 8, and had $203,284 on hand at the end of August.
In Position 7, challenger David Schraer has not reported his totals for August, although he does report raising $306 in August, which would bring his total to $2,300. The incumbent, Tim Burgess, reported raising $216,248 as of September 9, and had $109,740 on hand at the end of August.
In Position 9, challenger Dian Ferguson had raised $51,737 as of September 9, and was $12,225 in the red at the end of August. Incumbent Sally Clark had raised $230,172 as of September 8, and had $121,447 on hand at the end of August.
• Since it's never too soon to start talking about the 2013 mayoral election, it's worth noting that McGinn's donors so far---consist, like the early contributors to the anti-tunnel campaign, overwhelmingly of city employees and employees of environmental groups like the Sierra Club (which McGinn used to chair). Of $5,594 in contributions so far, about a third---$1,732---come from city employees. Other contributions have come from employees of the Cascade Bicycle Club, the Sierra Club, and the environmentalist Sightline Institute.
