Afternoon Jolt: Richard Conlin Will Not Be Recalled
Today's loser: Elizabeth Campbell.
This afternoon, King County Superior Court judge Carol Schapira rejected a petition by anti-tunnel, pro-viaduct crusader Elizabeth Campbell to recall city council president Richard Conlin and remove him from office. This is the second legal defeat for Campbell this week; on Monday, superior court judge Joan DuBuque ruled that Campbell's Initiative 101, which would bar the state from building the deep-bore tunnel in city right-of-way, did not qualify for the November ballot.
Today's winner: Richard Conlin.
In a statement in response to the ruling today, Conlin said, "disagreement over a policy issue is not grounds for removal from office. The Court’s decision today confirms the rule of law."
