It's Friday. It's been a long week. I know you want nothing better to do than go to Belltown in that dress that cost too much with too little coverage. The last thing you want to think about on a Friday night is, you know, social injustice and helping people.

But you can do both at the same time.

Tonight there is a free Summer Art & Jazz Night in Burien. (Jazz works with that dress.) It features music from the award winning Karen Shivers jazz quartet and artwork by local artists.

So where's the social justice part? If you buy any of the art (I've looked at some of the pieces—you will buy one or two) all of the proceeds go to the Genesis Project. The Genesis Project is a Drop-In Center for young women who are trapped in the sex trafficking industry.

Sex trafficking has become a major underground industry in America, and is finally getting some attention, but how much do we really know about it? Take this night to educate yourself and have fun doing it. There will be music. There will be art. There will be a worthy, and urgent, cause.

7pm, The Evergreen Church- 17700 First Ave. S, Burien
