PI.com: State Auditor Sonntag Mulling Governor's Race

By Josh Feit June 13, 2011

Joel Connelly at the PI.com has a batch of intriguing quotes from Democratic Washington State Auditor Brian Sonntag about Sonntag's thoughts on running for governor in 2012:
“I think you have to take a look at it, since enough people have asked me . . . I think we’re pretty well positioned here either to see reelection or run for Governor,” Sonntag told seattlepi.com.

“I don’t have any burning ambition, but I might be able to offer a unique perspective in the race,” he added.  “The unique perspective here is how to enact real government reform, which is often talked about but never seems to happen.”

In order to achieve “real reform,” Sonntag said, citizens need to be directly involved and “state employees must be part of the problem-solving effort.”

“We get sloganeering and politicking, and hear ‘No more sacred cows’,” said Sonntag, but they’re still grazing happily.”
