Politico picked up the Dennis Kucinich story yesterday, giving the microphone to Washington State GOP Chair Kirby Wilbur to get a reaction to the possibility that the iconoclastic lefty, who's getting redistricted out of his house seat in Ohio, may pick up and run in Washington State.

Wilbur tells the D.C. news site:

“This, apparently, is his final meltdown,” said Washington State GOP Chairman Kirby Wilbur. “I would love to have him on the ballot out here. We welcome him with open arms. He is so far left, I could beat him with any Republican candidate.”

Politico could have gotten just as mean a quote from Washington State's Democratic Party Chair, Dwight Pelz.

Earlier this month, in a story about Kucinich's overtures, Pelz told the Seattle Times :

“Is this about serving a district in Congress or is this about Dennis Kucinich?” said state Democratic Party Chairman Dwight Pelz.
