Extra Fizz: Local Blogger Gets into White House Press Conference

By Josh Feit May 18, 2011

Local blogger Michael Hood—Hood writes a radio watchdog blog called Blatherwatch and filed a great story
for PubliCola earlier this year on former-talk-jock-turned state Republican Party chair Kirby Wilbur—got credentialed to cover yesterday's White House briefing. (Hood gives a shout-out to Sen. Patty Murray press aide Eli Zupnick for greenlighting him.)

He has a post
about the apparently uneventful briefing—although Hood does relish making eye contact with Obama press spokesman Jay Carney before getting passed over for the likes of NPR's Marra Liasson.

"It was just plain thrilling for a small-town hack who's meager off-line lifestyle is eating crunchy snacks while plugged into cable teevee and haunting the Sunday shows," Hood writes about his White House jaunt. "Not much news was made by the answers fielded today by Press Secretary Jay Carney, but we had the thrill of a career by catching his eye while our hand was up waving to be recognized and then... being ignored..."

My question (and I've got an email in to lefty Hood): What was his question for Carney?

UPDATE:

Hood says he planned to ask the White House about any progress on then-detained, former Seattle Times and PI
reporter, Dorothy Parvaz, who was being held in Iran. Parvaz, who works for Al Jazeera now, was released late last night.
