This Washington
Afternoon Jolt: Eyman's Main Contributor is Back
Today's winner: Tim Eyman
Initiative hawker Tim Eyman has been stuck raising money ($25,000 most recently from Bellevue developer Kemper Freeman) to pay himself back for the $250,000 loan he made to his political committee, Voters Want More Choices, during last year's I-1053 campaign.
Eyman's big backer, Woodinville financial consultant Mike Dunmire, didn't fund Eyman last year. The stock market crash didn't treat Dunmire too well, Eyman told PubliCola explaining the notable absence of his longtime patron.
According to financial reports at the Public Disclosure Commission, Dunmire is back. On March 7, he contributed $100,000 to Help Us Taxpayers, Eyman's longstanding compensation committee.
Voters Want More Choices runs Eyman's campaigns while Help Us Taxpayers raises money to pay Eyman.
Help Us Mike Dunmire might be a more accurate title for the committee.
On a positive note for Democrats, I guess this means the economy's back.
