Who Is Let's Move Forward?

By Erica C. Barnett April 11, 2011

Let's Move Forward, the campaign that's fighting against an anti-tunnel referendum that would overturn three agreements between the city and the state on the deep-bore tunnel, raised $12,600 in in-kind contributions last month---opinion polling paid for by the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Seattle Association, and consulting paid for by the Washington State Labor Council. The campaign has received more than $10,000 from the Chamber.

The contributions so far mostly confirm the obvious: The pro-tunnel campaign is going to be fought jointly by business and labor, while the anti-tunnel campaign will be fought by the much more poorly funded environmental and social-justice communities.

As does the campaign's first large expenditure: $2,000 for consulting services from Christian Sinderman, whose firm, we wrote last year, has a "near monopoly" on local incumbents' races. Sinderman, notably, stayed out of the mayor's race in 2009 because he had connections to more than one mayoral candidate (Sinderman supported incumbent Greg Nickels behind the scenes.)

Let's Move Forward campaign coordinator Sheila Stickel did not immediately return a call requesting information about the polls the group has conducted.
