PubliCola Adds Life

Think Tank Tuesday

By Josh Feit April 4, 2011

We're debuting a new feature tomorrow, the PubliCola Think Tank. As the name implies, it involves a bunch of smart people. Here's who they are:

Glenn Fleishman, longtime tech writer who contributes regularly to The Seattle Times, The Economist, and Ars Technica (he was also PubliCola's TechNerd in 2009.)
Sally Bagshaw, Seattle City Council member
April Putney, lobbyist with the environmental group Futurewise
Liv Finne, researcher at the Washington Policy Center

[pullquote]A lucky PubliCola commenter will get to sit in with the Think Tank for a couple of weeks at a time, too. Tomorrow, longtime Cola reader Michael Maddux will have the key to the Think Tank [/pullquote]

Claudia Balducci, Bellevue City Council Member
Trevor Griffey, PhD student in US history at the University of Washington
State Rep. Reuven Carlyle, D-36, Queen Anne
Lew McMurran, lobbyist for the Washington Technology Industry Association
Phil Bussey, President & CEO, Seattle Greater Chamber of Commerce
Toby Crittenden, Community organizer at the youth political action group, the Washington Bus
Sandeep Kaushik, political consultant for Sound View Strategies (and, once upon a time, PubliCola's cofounder)
State Rep. Deb Eddy, D-48, Kirkland
Pramila Jayapal, Executive Director of immigrants rights group OneAmerica
John Carlson, Conservative KOMO radio talk jock
David Freiboth, Executive Secretary King County Labor Council

Lisa Stone, executive director at the women’s legal center, Legal Voice
Geologic, hip-hop artist with the Blue Scholars
Andrew Thibault, local political pollster with EMC Research
Jon Scholes, advocacy director, Downtown Seattle Association
Louise Chernin, executive director, Greater Seattle Business Association, the Puget Sound’s LGBT business group
Paul Guppy, VP of research at the conservative policy group, the Washington Policy Center
David Rolf, President, Service Employees International Union 775
David Meinert, music entrepreneur and club owner
Anne Fennesey, political consultant

Every Tuesday, we're going to publish a pair of dueling editorials on a pressing topic from some other smart people, and the PubliCola Think Tank will hash it out in the comments. The Cola Think Tank is pretty evenly divided along the political spectrum, so we hope to get a rich debate going.

A lucky PubliCola commenter will get to sit in with the Think Tank for a couple of weeks at a time, too. Tomorrow, longtime Cola reader Michael Maddux will have the key to the Think Tank and, knowing Michael, will be holding his own with our chosen scholars.

Stay tuned for Think Tank Tuesday.
