By Josh Feit April 29, 2011

SINCE THIS STORY WAS ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED, TIM EYMAN HAS UPDATED HIS CAMPAIGN FINANCE REPORTS. (HIS GROUP REPORTS HAVING $30,000 ON HAND, A $187,000 OUTSTANDING DEBT, AND BEING ABOUT $160,000 IN THE RED. THEY REPORT STANDARD ACCOUNTING, MAIL, AND INTERNET SERVICE EXPENSES.

IN AN EMAIL FROM EYMAN AFTER THE STORY RAN (AND AFTER WE FIRST INTERVIEWED EYMAN ABOUT THE PROBLEM) HE WROTE: "Thanks for bringing this to my attention so we could correct it quickly."

ORIGINAL POST:

Tim Eyman's ongoing initiative committee, Voters Want More Choices—Save the 2/3rds, has yet to report its spending and debts for March. The reports were due in mid April.

As of the end of February Eyman's group reported being about $200,000 in the red with $42,000 cash on hand and a $238,000 outstanding debt for a loan from Eyman himself. Their biggest expenditure that month was $3,000 for mailing costs.

The group, which hasn't decided on its campaign season cause yet, did report its contributions for March, though. They raised nearly $50,000 (as opposed to $15,000 in February), including a $25,000 contribution from Bellevue developer and anti-light rail campaigner, Kemper Freeman to help pay down Eyman's loan.

Eyman wasn't sure what was up with the missing report and said his compliance guys told him they'd submitted all the reports. We have a call in to the Public Disclosure Commission.
