The News Tribune: House Republicans Want to "Get Washington Working Again" - And a Free Dinner

By Andrew Calkins March 7, 2011

Peter Callaghan at the Tacoma News Tribune's Political Buzz blog caught wind of an unusual contest among house Republicans in Olympia. The task? Use the phrase "let's get Washington working again," in whole and in that exact form, in a floor speech. The prize? A ticket to be entered in a drawing for a free dinner.

Callaghan reports that he confirmed the contest with Rep. Rich DeBolt  (R-20, Chehalis), who used the phrase during a floor speech on a bill that wasn't particularly related to the economy or jobs. Apparently DeBolt confirmed the contest only under the condition that it not be reported with any cynical undertones.

It's unclear whether Democrats are excluded from the contest or when the drawing will take place.
