Extra Fizz: Democratic State Rep. Jim Jacks Resigns

By Josh Feit March 25, 2011

Rep. Jim Jacks (D-49, Vancouver), the assistant majority whip, has resigned. Jacks has missed some of his committee meetings this week, reportedly out dealing with personal issues.

A statement from state house majority leader, Rep. Pat Sullivan (D-47, Covington) says simply:
Rep. Jacks has been a good legislator for the people of his district and a productive member of our caucus. However, we understand his decision to put his family first, and we are accepting that decision.

Jacks' web page has already been disabled. The Democrats majority is still substantial, 55-42.

We have calls in to both Jacks' office and Democratic house spokeswoman Melinda McGrady.
