Today's winner: Pierce County.
The state house passed a bill today, already passed by the senate earlier this month, mandating that all counties switch to all-mail voting by 2013. Pierce County was the only county that didn't already require residents to vote by mail.
Not only does the higher turnout counties have seen when they've switched to mail voting promote democracy, but the bill also mandates smaller precincts, which gives more people the opportunity to get involved directly in politics.
Vote-by-mail is also less expensive. Welcome to the 21st century, Pierce County.
Today's Losers: The eight Pierce County representatives---two Democrats and six Republicans---who voted "No."
Get with it, you guys.
