The Washington Post: Seattle Rep. Pushes Coal Tar Ban
As you could tell from this morning's Morning Fizz, yesterday was an Oly day.
One thing we weren't able to catch, though—Seattle freshman state Rep. David Frockt (D-46, N. Seattle) held a hearing on his bill to outlaw coal tar sealants. (Coal tar sealants, used on driveways and parking lots to prevent cracking, contain a bad guy toxic chemical, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Lacing pavement with coal tar increases storm water pollution.)
Bad news judgment on my part for missing Frock's hearing. (Watch it here.)
Turns out Washington State would be the first in the nation to ban coal tar sealants—newsworthy enough to make the venerable Washington Post.
