Connelly: Congress Declares Victory Over Biodegradable Plates
Nice scoop by Joel Connelly over at the PI: Styrofoam---phased out at the US Capitol as part of Nancy Pelosi's "Green the Capitol" campaign because it's nonbiodegradable and sticks around in landfills forever---is back thanks to the Republicans' "militant new House majority."
Returning from a week-long recess, members and staff discovered polystyrene cups back in use at the Capitol Cary-Out, the Washington Post reported on Monday.
The four-year “Green the Capitol” campaign, introduced by the Democratic Speaker, reduced energy use in the U.S. Capitol by 23 percent and cut down water consumption by 32 percent.
