Morning Fizz

The Best Strategy

By Morning Fizz December 30, 2010

1. We ended up going with our best fizz yesterday afternoon as posts in their own right: the ACLU vs. Sensible Washington
over the best strategy for passing a pot legalization initiative and home health care workers sue state over budget cuts
.

2.
We're keeping our eye on newly-elected state Sen. Steve Litzow (R-41, Mercer Island, Bellevue, Issaquah). It will be interesting to see how the GOP freshman come out after stealing three state senate seats in Seattle's east side burbs. Eastsider Litzow hasn't filed any bills yet, but his name did show up as a co-sponsor on a bill requested by AG Rob McKenna this week.

The bill cracks down on people who don't have legal credentials providing legal assistance to immigrants
. Liberal Seattle state Sen. Adam Kline (D-37, S. Seattle) is one of the other seven sponsors. The lead sponsor is conservative Democratic state Sen. Margarita Prentice (D-11, Burien, Sea-Tac, Tukwila, Renton).

3.
Speaking of the upcoming session, don't miss tonight's confab with members of Seattle's delegation—including Kline—at Liberty Bar on Capitol Hill tonight. Find out what the Seattle delegation plans to get done this year despite (or maybe because of) the budget crisis.

It starts at 7 pm. Liberty is at 517 15th Ave. E. Go to the back room. (Wes will man his iPhone for Husky game updates.)

4. Erica will be on KOMO radio at noon today to discuss Mayor Mike McGinn's nightlife initiative. Tune in 1000 AM.
