Quote of the Day

By Josh Feit November 24, 2010

Sorry the site is so slow today, although that was a pretty packed Morning Fizz, no?

Not only is it the day before Thanksgiving, but we've also been locked down in a bit of an editorial planning session; some cool stuff in the works for 2011.

However, here's a little quote of the day for you.

State senate majority leader Sen. Lisa Brown (D-3, Spokane) released a statement today in response to Gov. Chris Gregoire's latest round of proposed cuts to deal with yet another revenue shortfall ($385 million) as the state crawls toward the finish line of the 2009-11 budget, which already fell more than $10 billion
short prior to the latest news.

Brown's smart line: "Our challenge isn't just a math problem," she said, explaining that while she agreed with the governor that cuts needed to be made, the issue wasn't just a matter of subtracting programs. Brown continued: “Cuts will no doubt be necessary, but I believe there are reforms we can make within government that can also achieve significant cost savings. We need to look at literally every opportunity to reduce the cost of delivering services before we eliminate those services outright.”
