More From Obama Rally & More From Chamber Retreat

By Josh Feit October 21, 2010

Kissel is waiting for Obama to speak. He's got the highlights from U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee and King County Executive Dow Constantine's opening remarks here.

And more from our sources at the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce retreat.

There's a panel on education and Martha Choe, Chief Administrative Officer at the Gates Foundation, breached political etiquette in Seattle. When asked what's the one thing we need to focus on in the next year, she said: Allow us to introduce charter schools as a method of innovation.

And a scary fact, pointed out by education reformer Mary Jean Ryan, board member for the League of Education Voters: Only 25 percent of King County residents who have Bachelor's degrees were born here. Says Ryan: "That's not normal or sustainable. What happens if people from other places stop wanting to come here." The U.S. average is 58 percent.

Breaking for lunch now.
