Extra Fizz: Mike Heavey on the Environment, the Economy, and Joe Fitzgibbon's "Cherubic Looks."
The War of the passive aggressive notes continues in the 34th district. State house candidate Mike Heavey got another angry interest group letter yesterday, this time from the Washington Conservation Voters (who, like the authors of this week's earlier letters
, are supporting Heavey's opponent, Joe Fitzgibbon).
The WCV is piling on because of Heavey's answers on candidate questionnaire for Enterprise Washington, a state business group (the same questionnaire the two labor unions cited when they wrote to Heavey with complaints earlier this week).
Heavey's politically incorrect answer? He said Washington State “must be a leader in economic development first” before considering expansive environmental policies.
Heavey's answers “accept [Enterprise WA's] misguided efforts to pit the environment against the economy,” writes WCV political director Brendon Cechovic.
Heavey wrote back at midnight last night noting all the focus on his opponents' "cherubic looks" and repeatedly thanking the WCV for contacting him—saying that, in terms of his priorities, economic recovery trumps all else. “This isn’t pitting one objective of economic development against another of climate change. This is simply stating: we can’t advance any part of our progressive agenda if we lose focus of what people care most about now,” Heavey wrote.
Heavey's evidently "cherubic" opponent, Joe Fitzgibbon.
