Early Afternoon Jolt: The R-52 Campaign

By Josh Feit October 19, 2010

R-52, the $505 million bond levy to fund green retrofits for public schools has the honor of being the only campaing on the state ballot to get a donation from the richest man in America, Bill Gates Jr.

Gates wrote a $50,000 check to the campaing this month.

On the federal level, Gates has made contributions to Democrats and Republicans alike—Democrats Rick Larsen, Jay Inslee, Suzan DelBene, and Patty Murray along with Republicans Dave Reichert (DelBene's opponent) and Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

He's also given to both parties in other federal races, including contributions to both Democratic leader Harry Reid and Republican leader Mitch McConnell, $1,000 each.
