Stephen Colbert Brings Truthiness to Washington
This morning, Stephen Colbert testified (in character) in front of the House immigration subcommittee in support of migrant farm workers' rights. The testimony was filled with one-liners: "I don’t want a tomato picked by a Mexican — I want it picked by an American, then sliced by a Guatemalan, and served by a Venezuelan in a spa where a Chilean gives me a Brazilian." And: "After working with these men and women, picking beans, packing corn, for hours on end, side by side, in the unforgiving sun, I have to say, and I do mean this sincerely: Please don’t make me do this again, it is really, really hard." But, on the whole, his message was one of serious support. Watch Colbert's testimony below:

Though many of the representatives appear thoroughly amused, Iowa Republican Rep. Steve King took it upon himself to fill the role of humorless old man. The New York Times reports Rep. King called Colbert's testimony "an insult to the troops at war to suggest that Americans don’t like hard jobs."
