In Case You Missed It: WSDOT Says Conlin's Signature Good Enough for Them
We missed this bit of news in all the drama on Friday: Washington Transportation Secretary Paula Hammond issued a statement on Friday—not surprisingly—thanking Seattle city council president Richard Conlin for signing the draft environmental impact statement on the deep bore tunnel, adding:

Hammond's statement does not address the legal validity of Conlin's signature. Mayor Mike McGinn, a tunnel opponent, said Conlin's signature is not valid, adding that in fact, it was a violation of the city charter for Conlin to even sign the document.

We called WSDOT's tunnel project manager Ron Judd on Friday to get his assessment on the validity of Conlin's signature and to ask him about allegations that he put pressure on Conlin to sign. Judd has not returned our call.
It ... means that the City of Seattle will remain as our partner as we respond to public comments on the environmental analysis, develop mitigation measures, and prepare the final EIS
