In this morning's Fizz we reported that one of Mike Heavey's top contributors, the Affordable Housing Council (AFC), was the political committee of the conservative Building Industry Association of Washington.
That is not correct. the AFC is the political committee for the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish County, a local affiliate of the BIAW. We regret the error.
The BIAW's PAC is called the Washington Affordable Housing Council.
While the local AFC is conservative—they're in favor of Tim Eyman's I-1053 (the two-thirds legislative majority rule for tax increases), against I-1098 the high-earners' income tax, and have endorsed many Republicans this year as well as State Supreme Court Justice Jim Johnson —they are not synonymous with the BIAW and, in fact, are currently suing the BIAW in a dispute over their shared workers' comp fund.
They also donate to liberals, giving the max $1600 to Dow Constantine last year in his race for King County Executive. However, the AFC also gave $800 to Susan Hutchison in the same race.
