How to Win Fabulous Election-Night Prizes

By Erica C. Barnett August 17, 2010

Come to PubliCola's election-night party for the political nerdery; stay for the chance to win one of two free passes to Bumbershoot.

Winning is simple. All you have to do is correctly predict (or come the closest to correctly predicting) the results in three key races: US Senate (Patty Murray vs. Dino Rossi vs. Clint Didier et al); Washington State rep, District 34 (Joe Fitzgibbon vs. Mike Heavey vs. Geoff McElroy vs. Marcee Stone), and state supreme court justice Position 1, which will be decided tonight (Jim Johnson or Stan Rumbaugh). Extra-credit bonus points go to folks who make the best/craziest/most random predictions in other races.

Tips: Remember that in many cases, there are a lot of candidates on the ballot who aren't getting much attention; every als0-ran (Goodspaceguy, Mike the Mover) will get a certain number of votes, so your numbers for the top contenders shouldn't always add up to 100. And: Conventional wisdom is that older, more conservative voters turn out for primary elections.

Here are my predictions (sorry, Stan Rumbaugh):
