Seattle Chef Named 2010 Best New Chef by Food and Wine Magazine

By Angela Garbes April 6, 2010

Although the official announcement won't be made until a ceremony this evening in New York, this afternoon, New York Magazine's Grub Street blog (via, of all things, Food & Wine's Best New Chef iPhone app) published the names of the ten chefs who made Food & Wine's 2010 Best New Chefs list. Among the honorees is Jason Stratton of Spinasse. (Past Seattle winners include Mark Fuller of Spring Hill, Maria Hines of Tilth, and Matt Dillon of The Corson Building and Sitka & Spruce.)

I interviewed Stratton, who's just 29, a few months ago for  Seattle Weekly. He was passionate, idiosyncratic, and infectiously enthusiastic.

In response to a quick congratulatory email, Stratton, who may be as dedicated to karaoke and fashion as he is to food, said he was thankful and "getting gussied up" for the night's festivities. Congrats to Jason and the Spinasse team.
