More Morning Fizz: State House Majority Leader Won't Seek Reelection

By Josh Feit April 13, 2010

Here's the AP story: State Rep. Lynn Kessler (D-24, Clallam, Jefferson, and Parts of Grays Harbor Counties) is not seeking reelection.

A conservative force in the Democratic caucus, Kessler has been Majority Leader for nearly a decade.

All three seats in the 24th are currently filled by Democrats, but this does seem like another opportunity for the GOP. So far the GOP has not announced a candidate.

They had been talking to folks to run against Kessler's colleague Rep. Kevin Van De Wege (D-24), but will likely change the target to Kessler's open seat.  "We're talking to proven vote getters in the community," says Kevin Carns, Director of the House Republican Organizational Committee, "school board, city council folks. We'll be competitive."
