Extra Extra Fizz: Another Democrat Eyes GOP Turf
We've already reported that Democrats are going after the last bastion of GOP control on Seattle's east side exurbs, the state legislature's 5th legislative district, where businessman Dean Willard is running against incumbent GOP state Rep. Glenn Anderson (R-5).
The latest: Trial lawyer Greg Hoover is running against Anderson's Republican house colleague from the 5th, Rep. Jay Rodne (R-5).
A good sign for the Democrats: The gay rights referendum, R-71, passed big in the 5th, getting over 60 percent support. Both Rep. Anderson and Rodne voted no on the measure when it came before the house.
And more state legislature fizz: The 41st District Democrats (Mercer Island, Newcastle) picked Seattle University law professor, attorney, and activist Randy Gordon to replace Sen. Fred Jarrett, who joined King County Executive Dow Constantine's team as deputy exec. His name goes to the King County Council, which makes the final pick.
