Six Parking Spots

Property Watch: Look Inside Bellevue’s Most Expensive Condo

Is there such a thing as too much marble?

Seattle’s high-end real estate fetches its share of absurd prices. But Bellevue, which has a reputation for more expensive taste, is a whole other ballgame. If this downtown penthouse sells at its $12.85 million asking price, it will be the most expensive condo ever sold in the city—surpassing even the highest condo sale in Seattle. The HOA fees alone clock in at $4,845 per month.

The home makes up the top floor of the southern tower of the luxury condo complex Bellevue Towers. That's in the middle of downtown Bellevue, a couple of blocks from Bellevue Square and Bellevue Downtown Park. It’s walking distance to arts destinations like Bellevue Art Museum and Meydenbauer Center, and near the transit center—not that the latter matters too much if you have $13 million condo money...and the six parking spaces that come with it.

At 6,397 square feet inside and more than 4,000 square feet outside, the penthouse is larger than the vast majority of single-family homes in the area. The only things separating it from a ritzy Evergreen Point Road estate are a privacy hedge and a boat dock.

The condo is absolutely slathered in marble, starting right from the jump: The entryway has marble floors, walls, and tray ceilings, setting the stage for the rest of the opulent interior. Other dramatic uses of marble include a statement pillar fireplace, an entire bar-height counter and backsplash in the kitchen, and the walls of the condo’s largest and fanciest bathroom. The occasional baseboard and accent wall are marble too, just for good measure. Even when it’s not marble, every finish is a statement, like walnut wood panels and brushed steel with exposed rivets.

The ceiling starts at a standard height then slants upward. Thus, the large, open living area takes advantage of two stories of floor-to-ceiling windows, curved and facing south. Smaller gathering areas are delineated by fireplaces and ceiling height—like the dropped ceiling above a wet bar. A large, wraparound deck on the west, north, and east sides adds multiple additional gathering spaces, broken up slightly by the corners of the building.

All four bedrooms have views and and three open to the secluded eastern portion of deck, located around a sharper corner than the rest. The largest suite boasts a giant walk-in closet, larger than many studio apartments, with a killer view of Lake Washington.

Other amenities this place manages to squeeze in: a gym with its own wet bar; a giant storage room; and a sizable utility room, with laundry, an apron sink, and handsome wood cabinetry. Again, it’s just a mansion on top of a skyscraper.
