Chick-fil-A Opens Thursday in Bellevue

Chick-fil-A, the Georgia-based purveyor of fried chicken sandwiches, inspires a lot of emotions. Some conflicting, but nearly always fervent.
There's outrage, stemming from president Dan Cathy's vocal stance against same-sex marriage, not to mention all the political donations to organizations viewed as anti-gay or anti-abortion (reps for the company say his personal views shouldn't be conflated with those of the company). Others set politics aside for the sake of a sublimely crunchy chicken sandwich, a pile of glorious waffle fries, and friendly service. A third sector of the population tries to reconcile ethical stances and fried chicken cravings with varying results. Of course there are also people who share Cathy's values and love the food.
It will be interesting to see how this plays out when Chick-fil-A opens its first Seattle-area location tomorrow.
Chick-fil-A debuts Thursday, April 9 in Bellevue (785 116th Ave NE, near Uwajimaya). Much like the arrival of a new In-N-Out, openings can get a little crazy. According to the PR team, new store launches often involve people setting up tents and lawn chairs to line up outside 24 hours in advance; this is reportedly already happening. Per Chick-fil-A tradition, the first 100 people in line get tons of free food.
Chick-fil-A is in the middle of a major expansion; the company now has 1,911 locations in 41 states; Tacoma and Lynnwood will get their own locations in the next few weeks. According to the Seattle Times, the company once had a location in Bellingham at Western Washington University.
The Bellevue Chick-fil-A will be open Monday through Saturday, from 6:30am–10pm, serving breakfast until 10:30am. It's closed on Sunday, like all the chain's locations. Keep tabs on the madness via the store's Facebook page.
