Breakfast—Not In Bed

Where to Eat Mother’s Day Brunch

We suggest a reservation.

The Lotte brunch is worth taking your eyes off the view.

What's better than breakfast in bed? A lack of dirty dishes and a weekend free of panicked grocery runs. So leave the Mother’s Day prep, service, and cleanup to the experts slinging local fare and snag a spot at a Seattle institution. Reservations are a must-have; most of our favorite digs sell out year after year.

Cafe Flora

8am–2:30pm | $65, $25 kids

The light, cozy Madison Valley spot upgrades its usual vegetarian weekend brunch to a swanky three-course menu: Start with beignets and continue with cherry pistachio French toast or the veggie-forward spring Benedict before capping the meal with a strawberry pavlova or rhubarb clafoutis.

Charlotte Restaurant

9–11:30am | $95, $50 kids

Perched above Elliot Bay, downtown’s bustle, and the iconic Smith Tower, the views from the Lotte Hotel’s Charlotte Restaurant are second only to the three-course Mother’s Day menu.

Elliott's Oyster House has Mother's Day specials and cocktail pairings.

Elliott's Oyster House

11am–4pm | Menu

Oversize windows and patio seating take advantage of the waterfront location; dockside, Mother’s Day diners are treated to menu specials from a shrimp pot pie to king crab and artichoke quiche. The elegant, grown-up offerings pair with three holiday cocktails to round out a celebratory meal.

Goldfinch Tavern

9am–2:30pm | $140, $65 kids

Brunch is all about the buffet at this waterfront Ethan Stowell restaurant: The app bar holds seasonal favorites like berries and a charcuterie spread while the dessert buffet boasts hummingbird cake. In between, entrées range from the decidedly brunch (asparagus frittata) to the almost dinner (Alaskan halibut). Plus, moms kick off the meal with a raspberry and peach Bellini. Smith Tower

1:30pm | $55

Inside the downtown landmark, a three-course prix fixe brunch pairs with celebratory cocktails. Meal reservations include access to the historic exhibits and 35th-floor Observatory for the architecture and history nerds among us.

Ray's

9am–9pm | menu

Choose your own adventure at the Sound-side restaurant with epic Olympic views. The first-floor Boathouse serves up Mother’s Day specials alongside the tried and true brunch and dinner menus; a $95 brunch buffet services the try-it-all types upstairs.

Ethan Stowell's Mother's Day footprint reaches from Capitol Hill to Queen Anne.

Rione XIII

10am–2pm | Menu

Chef Seth Alexander adapts Rione XIII’s Italian roots to the occasion; his take on biscuits and gravy features fresh-baked focaccia and tantalizing fennel sausage gravy. The focused menu otherwise stars a few brunch favorites, and the Capitol Hill locale is ripe with celebratory post-brunch shows and shopping to continue the festivities. Waterways Cruises

5pm | $140

Mother's Day hits the waters of Lake Union and Lake Washington on a two-and-a-half hour cruise complimented with a three-course dinner. Everyone gets bubbly upon boarding, and the captain points out landmarks along the dinnertime journey.

Westin Bellevue

10am & 1pm | $129, $39 kids

Delicate place setting details and pastel florals give this Eastside Mother’s Day brunch the air of a fairy tale. A rolled ice cream station and candy wall satisfy a sweet tooth, and a live string trio adds a touch of class.
