Coyle’ Bakeshop Takeover: Dorie’s Cookies
When crafting the recipe for the most delectable chocolate cookie to serve at Coyle’s Bakeshop, Rachael Coyle gleaned a few tips from one of her idols: cookbook author Dorie Greenspan (and her luxurious chocolate sable). To commemorate Greenspan’s latest book, Dorie’s Cookies, Seattle’s community cookbook store, Book Larder, plays matchmaker for a collaboration between the two masterful bakers. At this epic cookie party, Rachael will offer up treats of Dorie’s invention. If you happen to love what you taste, Dorie’s Cookies will be available for purchase, and the author herself will be in attendance to chat and sign copies. Reserve your spot for this free event here—before the cookies run out.

Purple Cafe Holiday Garage Sale
Is there anything in this world better than wine and garage sales? Perhaps a collection of great wines at garage sale prices. To welcome the holiday season and clear its shelves, Purple Café and Wine Bar Bellevue will host its annual garage sale from 12 to 3 pm at its sister event venue, Cast Iron Studios. Entry is free, but plan to spend about $10 to $25 a bottle and $40 to $50 for those rare gems. If you’re in the market for wines to pair with turkey and yams, a gift for the in-laws, or a favorite bubbly to toast the New Year, head to the “perfect for the holidays” section. And in the spirit of giving, everything must go, so prices will decrease after 2 pm.

Apple Cup Wine Dinner
When tensions between Husky and Cougars run high, sometimes fans need to unwind with a glass of wine made by football legends—or perhaps a few glasses. Four days before the awaited Apple Cup rivalry, Daniel’s Broiler Bellevue will host a multi-course dinner complete with award-winning pairings courtesy of two football icons: former Husky Damon Huard and former Cougar Drew Bledsoe. Dinner is $150 per guest, including Huard’s Passing Time and Bledsoe’s Doubleback wines. And what better way to quell anxieties before the big game than with crispy duck breast in pomegranate reduction and prime filet mignon with sweet potatoes and grilled lobster mushrooms? Plus a bit of support from two guys who’ve been through it before.

Ticket Alert: Winter Beer Fest
In the dreary winter months, nothing warms the spirits like the beloved Winter Beer Fest. This year, the Washington Brewers Guild holiday tasting event returns on Dec 2nd and 3rd to Hangar 30 at Magnuson Park with 50 local breweries participating. A $30 advanced ticket will get you a tasting glass and eight tastes of local beer, which might include sips of rich and spicy winter warmers, malt-accented stouts, and barrel-aged rarities. And if that’s not enough to quench your hankering for Washington brews, additional tokens are available for purchase. Tickets for this ever-crowd-pleasing event go fast, so reserve them here now.
