As of late February, Motofish Coffee has unfortunately folded both inside Chrome and in mobile truck form. But the caffeinated show must go on. Enter Slate Coffee, which moved into the cozy espresso bar inside Chrome a few weeks ago.

While it’s smaller than their other locations, you’ll still find a nice, simple coffee menu which includes Chemex pour over, cold brew, and nitro coffee on tap. There are also baked goods like granola, frittatas, and cookies, which are all made at the Slate Coffee in University District. Croissants—a cafe mainstay—come from Fuji Bakery.

To officially welcome Slate Coffee, plus celebrate Chrome’s two year anniversary in Seattle, there will be a party at the shop on June 17. See Chrome’s Facebook page for more details. And in the meantime, get your coffee, cookies, and custom made bags all under one roof at 1117 First Avenue.

Slate Coffee hours are Monday through Friday, 8 to 11, then again after a lunch break, from noon until 4.
