New Luck Toy
Mark Fuller, chef/owner of Ma'ono, and Patric Gabre-Kidan, a partner of Rhino Room, are joining forces to renovate the the former Chopstix on California Ave SW in West Seattle into a dive bar called New Luck Toy that serves craft cocktails and Americanized Chinese food. Think salt and pepper squid, ma pa tofu, and chow mein—ideally available by this June.
With the opening of Brian Clevenger and his business partner Kayley Turkheimer's East Anchor Seafood comes another announcement, and this time for his second restaurant Raccolto, in West Seattle. Dishes will focus on vegetables, seafood and affordable pasta dishes (eights types made in house every day).
Tarsan i Jane
Tray Kitchen on Leary Way is closing April 2, and Los Angeles chef Perfecto Rocher and fiancée and front-of-house Alia Zaine are taking over the kitchen for their new restaurant Tarsan i Jane. Cuisine-wise, the menu will change from Northwest dim-sum to wood-fired Valencian and Catalan dishes. Plus, an attached cooking school with join the venture.
Washington State Ferries
Centerplate, the biz that also runs the concessions a Safeco Field, is taking over food services on the state ferry systemwith a makeover that includes local products like Beecher's Cheese, Uli's Sausages, and Hempler's meat. Improved logistics for more efficiency is also a main goal of the company with plans to increase grab-and-go options and places to get rung up.
The Belltown Cocina/Cantina's brief stint is over due to lack of business reports Eater Seattle.
Coffee bar Fonté is coming to Bellevue Place outside the Hyatt Regency Hotel this summer. And if caffeine isn't your thing, beer and wine will also be available.
