I admit, this news is way more exciting for people who live in Portland. But Rachel Yang and Seif Chirchi, the chefs behind Revel, Joule, and Trove, will open their fourth restaurant in the City of Roses. (Oh, and as of this morning, they're once again James Beard nominees.)
The new spot doesn't have a name yet, but an email from Yang confirms it will be Korean inspired. She has said in the past that the Portland project will be spiritually similar to Revel, though definitely not Revel II. Yang and Chirchi are partnering with Eric and Karen Bowler, the couple behind Portland projects like Fortune and Tube.
What the restaurant does have is a location, in Portland's historic Salvation Army Building near the Burnside Bridge in SE Portland. It's sharing a space with a Portland outpost of Evo, which also happens to be a fellow occupant in Joule's building on Stone Way.
I guess this story about how hardly any Seattle restaurants expand to Portland (or vice versa) is officially obsolete. And that's a good thing. Though I imagine it will be a little trippy to experience these chefs' food and very specific type of atmosphere in another city.
