Who Makes the Best Chicken Dinner in Seattle?

Just ask the folks in Rainier Valley. Or read this.

Big Chickie's chicken dinner.

Two very different chicken shacks are going strong in south Seattle: Big Chickie Pollo a la Brasa in Hillman City, and Nate’s Wings and Waffles in Rainier Beach.

Yeah, they’re both about chicken and sides. They’re both casual, order-at-the-counter setups. They both offer a version of that 2015 requisite, kale salad. And they’re each named after a personage—the former, owner Matt Stubb’s mom, nicknamed Chickie; the latter, co-owner and local boy-gone-Denver Nuggets hoop star Nate Robinson.

But that’s where the similarities end. Want to know more? Check out my chicken shack smackdown in the January issue of Seattle Met.
