New Comedy Web Series Skewers Seattle's Farmers Markets

While Portlandia has cornered the market on TV sendups of Pacific Northwest culture, I've often thought that Seattle has enough of its own foibles to fuel some good comedy. One of them being our obsession with farmers markets (and rightfully so, because they are pretty spectacular).
Hence a trio from Seattle's theater community have put together Locally Grown, a comedy web series set at the fictional Ballmont Farmers Market. Hilarity and eccentricity ensue—cofounder Simon Hamlin likes to describe it as part Arrested Development and part Modern Family with a dash of Portlandia, of course. Rebekah Denn at the Seattle Times has all kinds of inside info and details on a few local celebrities who will be making an appearance. Watch the pilot episidode below, and check out the Locally Grown website for more details on the characters, the show, and actual denizens of our local markets.
