How old are your spices?

Slate: Inspired perhaps by a recent dinner at Seattle’s new Indian sensation Shanik, I ate up Slate’s piece chronicling the hunt for the earliest archeological evidence of curry—and not just because the scientists who discovered it were from Washington state. They found residues of ginger and turmeric that dated from between 2200 and 2500 B.C.E., which further testing may reveal to be older than the stuff in my spice cabinet. —Kathryn Robinson

Wall Street Journal: Models do eat! Or at least their assistants do. WSJ goes behind the scene of New York Fashion Week and discovers "a nine-day smorgasbord of free food and open bars." Fashion Week, it turns out, is "a huge foodie event." —Christopher Werner

The Atlantic explores (in greeeeeeat detail) the burning environmental issue of our time: Are food trucks worse for the environment than brick-and-mortar restaurants? —Erica C. Barnett

Buzzfeed: Yeah, I'm on the verge of Beyonce burnout too. But this video—a how-to for making a sandwich that's all things Bey—is still worth a watch. —CW
