Revamping at Ray's Boathouse

Don’t call it a comeback, but Seattle Times food writer Rebekah Denn reports the beloved French bistro, which closed on Capitol Hill in 2004, will reopen this summer in an undisclosed location in West Seattle. While owner Jef Fike has been busy with his catering company, he’s already generated three-quarters of the funds needed to reopoen, thanks to a group of faithful diners and investors.

Unnamed Belltown Bar
Michael Forte, co-owner of Capitol Hill bar The Lookout, has snagged the former Bisato location in Belltown for a New Orleans-inspired gastropub, according to Eater Seattle. Forte plans to bring in chef Mark Amatangelo, who has been cooking in the south for 20 years, to steer the kitchen when it opens in early April.

The small plates, porchetta, and pasta destination is the latest to join the flurry of restaurants opening in Pioneer Square. Rudy LaValle, formerly of Rialto Pasta Bar and Grill, and partner David Hahne, formely of Laurelhurst's Enotria, are behind the 40-seat project at 314 Second Avenue South.

Cafe Venus and Mars Bar
Rumors of a closure were circulating, and The Stranger confirms them. After giving bartenders just one days notice the South Lake Union watering hole shuttered Wednesday. No confirmed details on what’s to come.

Five Fish
The fish-and-chips joint has shut down after one year at it, reports CHS. Despite a prime location on Broadway, owner Garnet Pitre told the blog, "It wasn't as busy as we anticipated."

Northwest Liquor and Wine
The 12th and Pine booze depot is for sale, reports CHS. Owner Hardial Gill purchased the store and 10 others in April when the state liquor board auctioned of its properties. The store will remain in business through the sale.

Blind Pig Bistro
New year, new look at the Eastlake bistro. Blind Pig shut down for a week over the holidays to install a counter that ups the seating by five.

Ray's Boathouse
Months of remodeling are almost complete at the iconic Ballard fish house. The new-and-improved dining room will open to the public on January 28. Check out the progress on the restaurant's blog
