Olivar will close for a brief remodel. But first, a guest chef.

Maria Hines, chef-owner of Tilth and Golden Beetle, told Allecia Vermillion that she will be stepping behind the bar at Golden Beetle for Tuesday happy hour in November and December. Try one of the special cocktails she designed, or sample the new cocktail menu from bar manager Andy McClellan.

From Seattle Coffee Works’ Sebastian Simsch comes a second cafe opening next spring. This one will be the Ballard Coffee Works, and Simsch is excited about location: a former Tully’s at the corner of NW Market St. and 22nd Ave.

Yozen, a new self-serve frozen yogurt joint, is ready to open at 2038 NW Market St. MyBallard talked with the owners, who say they hope to open by Thanksgiving.

CHS mentioned that Olivar will be hosting a 5-course dinner at 6:30 on November 17, featuring guest chef Wayne Johnson of Andaluca (and recently a competitor on Iron Chef America). Olivar will also be closed from November 20 to 30 for a kitchen remodel—look for cooking classes next year.

In the somewhat distant future, Central District News reports, the space formerly belonging to Thompson’s Point of View will be taken over by The Neighbor Lady, a bar and grill with a mostly vegetarian slant. Business partners Stephan Mollman and Shira Bray, of Twilight Exit, plan a late February opening.

Chris Werner has more food truck news. This time it’s McGraw Square, poised to host two food trucks at a time, both day and night. Skillet is one likely vendor, in a spot which should be food-truck-ready in the next few weeks.

On the first Friday of each month, Vito’s will be offering lunch and a full bar starting at 11:30, including $7 martinis. The new service debuts this Friday, November 4.

Want pie now? Well, actually tomorrow? Call Fremont shop Pie to have sweet or savory pies delivered—as well as salads, soups, and drinks—for office events, parties, or just because you love pies. Orders must be at least $50 and paid with credit card on the phone. Deliveries can be scheduled between 11 and 2:30 on weekdays with 24 hours notice (same-day orders are possible, but not probable).
