Five Point’s controversial sidewalk seating.

A happy development: The Washington State Liquor Control Board has relaxed its policy on where restaurants can serve alcohol outside, according to the West Seattle Herald as well as a Komo community reporter in Ballard.

From the Komo article:
Under the old policy, restaurants and bars could only serve alcohol in outdoor seating areas immediately adjacent to the building, Now, those businesses can set up curbside seating areas separated from the building by a sidewalk.

As the article points out, the new rule follows a sidewalk-seating victory at the Five Point Café that was preceded by a lengthy battle with the neighbors.

More details at the West Seattle Herald and Komo.
