Summer in the City

Thirty Favorite Spots to Eat and Drink Alfresco

Let’s take it outside, shall we?

Sambar, an alfresco favorite.

Friends, it’s officially summer. Let’s celebrate by raising a fork and glass at one of our city’s finer alfresco destinations. There are many spots to choose from (and the list keeps growing!), but because sunny days are as precious as a lock of Bieber hair, Nosh thinks it prudent to point you to our favorites.

Mapped here are 30 restaurants and bars that nail the open-air thing. Several are notable new additions to the alfresco scene, others longtime neighborhood hangs. There’s brick-lined, backdoor courtyards where you’ll have to jockey for a seat, and waterfront terraces for taking in our blue-green surrounds. Shrubby side lounges and revelrous jam-packed patios. In short, something for all occasions.

Mind you, it’s not always grub getting us to these spots—outside ambience is the calling card here. Oh, and don’t forget to chime in with your alfresco spot of choice.
